The hinge is in very good condition and there are very few dents. Interestingly, this appears to have been overpainted a very dark color, almost black and that appears to have been done during the war as some markings appear over this paint. I do believe this would be a great case to restore. The inside is sorta greasy or oily. It smells a bit like it
